IDBI Bank, formerly known as Industrial Development Bank of India, is a public sector bank in India. It was established in 1964 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and later transformed into a full-fledged commercial bank in 2004. However, in 2019, the Government of India divested its majority stake in IDBI Bank and transferred it to Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), making LIC the majority shareholder.
